The Legacy Continues

Taiyo Golf Course Logo

As the sun set on historic Awase Meadows Golf Course on February 21, 2010, more than 60 years of operational excellence and superior service to military service members and families, Department of Defense civilians, and local nationals who love the game of golf came to a close. View Awase Meadows History.

But that rich and historic legacy lives on at the new Taiyo Golf Club, which opened on March 1, 2010 and is already drawing comparisons to the finest U.S. military golf facilities in the Pacific, if not the entire world.

Taiyo Golf Club, as derived from the Japanese kanji, for "sun", has a number of meanings, but the literal translation is "Golf Club of the Sun." Taiyo is an apt name for this new property, as it serves to honor our host country while acknowledging the abundant sunshine that bathes this subtropical island. The club logo features a stylized hibiscus flower and evokes the Okinawa Prefectural symbol, confirming yet again our commitment to proudly and selflessly serve those who serve in Okinawa.

Taiyo Golf Club is located in Uruma City near the Kurashiki Dam in central Okinawa, just minutes from Camp Courtney and only 20 minutes from Camp Foster via the Okinawa Expressway (or 40 minutes by surface street). View Map.

Golf awaits on a visually stunning 18-hole layout that unfolds across 247 acres of rolling fairways, lush wetlands, scenic vistas, dramatic elevation changes, and large, well-manicured greens with subtle breaks. It's a feast for the eyes and a challenge for golfers of all skill levels from either of three sets of tees.

So reserve your tee time, gather your clubs, and ready yourself for a satisfying new experience at what we believe is among the finest U.S. Marine Corps golf facilities in the world—and a most-fitting tribute to the historic legacy of Awase Meadows Golf Course.
