Post Allowance Claims

As many of you are aware, many current and former regular full-time NAF employees at MCCS Camp Butler and MCCS Iwakuni may be entitled to retroactive post allowance.

Information regarding eligibility and claim procedures is posted on our HQ MCCS website at: http://www.usmc-mccs.org/news/postallowance/index.cfm

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  • All claim forms and required substantiating documentation must be submitted to your LOCAL NAF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICE, (Camp Foster, Bldg 5966). Forwarding these documents elsewhere, will only delay the processing of your claim!!
  • Claims for potential post allowance arising from employment at MCCS Okinawa must be made separately from those claims for employment at MCCS Iwakuni. Please refer to the detailed instructions on the website.
  • Former employees who wish to submit claims for time worked previously at MCCS Okinawa, please mail your documentation to the following address:

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division
(ATTN: NAF HRO, Bldg 5966, Camp Foster)
Unit 35023, MCB Camp Smedley D. Butler
    FPO AP 96373-5023

  • With regard to this info above, individuals who believe they are entitled to retroactive post allowance must provide proof of US citizenship. Official documents which will be accepted as proof of US citizenship may include a copy of one of the following:
    • US Passport (if issued prior to date petitioning for post allowance)
    • US Birth Certificate
    • Report of Birth Abroad (Form FS-240)
    • Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization from USCIS (including date became US citizen)

NOTE #1: Individuals must substantiate that they were US citizens during the time period in which they are filing claims for potential retroactive post allowance. Failure to submit sufficient documentation will result in an inability to process your claim.

NOTE #2: The documentation noted here is required, as some individuals may have began employment with MCCS when they were citizens of other countries, yet became naturalized U.S. citizens later during their employment time. Under the current rules established by the Department of Defense, an individual is only eligible for the Back Pay of Post Allowance from the time they were a U.S. Citizen.

  • It is anticipated that we will receive several thousand claims over the next few months from both current and former employees of MCCS Okinawa. Reviewing, approving/denying, and processing claims will be an extremely time consuming and onerous task. However, we will strive to process these claims as quickly as possible.
  • In order to prevent any delays in processing claims, please pay careful attention to the detailed instructions provided on the website, and submit a complete, accurate claim with all required documentation. Your patience is appreciated!!

Questions regarding the process required for submitting documentation, should be referred via email to saldanac@okinawa.usmc-mccs.org
