consideration of the Okinawa Prefectural Government’s guidance regarding large
gatherings, our Independence Day Celebration scheduled for Saturday, July 4
from 3 to 9 p.m. will be downscaled with different offerings on Camps Foster,
Lester and Plaza Housing. Although our planning included stringent mitigation
measures to ensure the safety of participants in preventing the community
spread of COVID-19, we do not believe holding a large, single-venue event
before July 9 (when the guidance expires) would be
it is still our heartfelt desire to thank our community for their perseverance
and celebrate the Fourth of July with festival foods and a fireworks display at
8:15 p.m., while enabling residents of Camp Lester and Plaza Housing to remain
at home to enjoy the fireworks and festival food.
Camp Foster, MCCS will be serving Bulldogs Burgers, Hickory House All-American
BBQ, and both adult and other icy beverages from the Kanpai Lounge at Godfrey
Field, a.k.a., the Parade Deck, while also offering Navy MWR pastrami &
cheese sandwiches and foot-long hot dogs along with a second Kanpai Lounge from
the parking lot next to the Ocean Breeze and Field #3. The Exchange will be
providing their AAFES Food Trucks at both Camp Lester and Plaza Housing.
Admission to this event is FREE and is open to
those authorized with base access. Face coverings will be required (exception to eating and drinking) and social distancing measures apply. Do
not bring pets, glass bottles, outside alcohol or coolers. Also, as always,
MCCS encourages everyone to drink responsibly. Don't drink and drive!
