Relocation Services: Your moving experience begins well before you receive your Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Whether you are arriving or departing Okinawa, or acting as a sponsor to an inbound Marine or Sailor, knowing what to expect and who to contact will significantly reduce the stress of moving.   Whether it's your first time moving or acting as a sponsor or you have done it many times, Marine & Family Programs - Resources staff is here to help. Our office maintains the most current and up to date relocation-related information and processes, information on Navy and Marine Corps installations and much more!  We can help make your move to or from Okinawa as ‘Smooth' as possible.

Information and Referral: Marine and Family I & R  Specialists are available to provide individualized one-on-one assistance to assist with individual readiness and personal development. Marine and Family Programs I & R  Specialists are also available to provide assistance in locating information, resources and referrals, and coordinate unit and group training to include Personal Finance, Language and Culture, Transition, Relocation and Individual Effectiveness workshops.

Marine & Family Programs - Resources serves as your DoD family center for Marines and Sailors stationed on Okinawa. Our locations are staffed with specialists trained to provide information, individual assistance and/or referrals necessary to maintain the high quality of life you are accustomed to. Visit any location to speak to a specialist or attend one of many workshops offered to assist with transition, cultural adaptation and personal readiness. 

Marine & Family Programs - Resources is available to positively impact the mission readiness of Marines and commands, and prevent individual problems which detract from unit performance. Unit training is available upon request, and can be customized and coordinated with other Marine and Family Service programs to address unique challenges within the command.

1.  MyCAA Expansion:
The FY20 National Defense Authorization Act expands the program to help pay tuition up to $4,000 for a license, certification or associate degree to pursue any occupation or career. As long as the military spouse, school and a Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) career coach work together to define a clear career path the funds can be applied. Previously, MyCAA could only be used toward 13 defined fields and 170 careers.

2.  Off Base Child Care Brochure is Attached. 
Child Care Fee Assistance was created to provide authorized USMC personnel assistance in locating, selecting, and offsetting the cost of civilian child care when on-base child care is not available.  The USMC Child Care Assistance brochure explains the process to determine eligibility.

3. TRICARE For Life (TFL)
TFL is Medicare-wraparound coverage for TRICARE beneficiaries who have Medicare Part A and Part B. This is regardless of your age or where you live.  It provides comprehensive health care coverage. With TFL, you also get prescription coverage under the TRICARE Pharmacy Program.

4. Article and Status of Forces Survey

The DSTRESS Line is a USMC program for active duty, reserve, veterans and retirees, as well as their families. Callers will speak with veteran Marines, former corpsmen, or Marine Corps spouses with years of experience on 'the green side' as well as licensed behavioral health counselors who have been specifically trained in Marine Corps culture and ethos. The DSTRESS Line is an anonymous behavioral health counseling service that gives Marines, attached Sailors, and family members a place to call and speak with "one of their own." It is a place to call and talk about stress in daily life -from the common everyday stressors to post-traumatic stress. It is not a medical service. DSTRESS Line counselors won't diagnose symptoms, but they will work with callers to help with a way forward. The call lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Smooth Move Toolkit


Smooth Move Workshops are available online at Qualtrics.com. Service Members PCSing or EASing needing to fulfill the requirement can sign-up for an online session at our MCCS Relocation Services website: www.mccsokinawa.com/relocation. An email confirmation will be sent out to you with the link and the access codes you will need to complete your online training. Once completed you can proceed to any of the MCCS Marine & Family Program Buildings the following day to receive your checkout stamp.


Directives

Per MARADMIN 254/20, effective 21 April 2020, provides U.S. Marine Corps disease containment preparedness planning guidance for 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19): Modification and Reissuance of DoD Response to COVID-19-Travel Restrictions.

Per MARADMIN 198/20, effective 31 March 2020, all domestic travel for DoD components is halted in response to COVID-19.

Per MARADMIN 193/20, effective 26 March 2020, all DoD International Travel is restricted to stop the spread of COVID-19. 

Per MARADMIN 159/20, effective 11 March 2020, provides guidance on 2020 Peak Moving Season Preparations for all Marines, Civilian Marines and their families.

PCS and the Child Development Centers (CDC)

If you are a PCSing spouse working at the CDC, you may qualify for a transfer of your CDC position directly to your gaining installation CDC.  Contact the FMEAP office for more information.


Hiring Fairs for Veterans:

The US Department of Agriculture is holding two virtual hiring fairs.   August 13 in Denver, and August 27 at Camp Pendleton.  Four Agencies within USDA will be recruiting/hiring at these events.  The events are open to Veterans nationwide, not just in the two locations.

MARADMIN 396-20 Provides reinforcing guidance regarding transportation, pets, housing, and ROM guidance for PCS moves to Japan. This guidance is effective 14 July 2020.

MARADMIN 377-20 provides information on the DoD policy change regarding COVID-19 military personnel movement and travel restrictions for leave and liberty. The change is effective 1 July 2020.

MARADMIN 221-19 provides information on the changes to the Administrative Weight Limits (AWL) on Household Goods for Accompanied Marines/Sailors (assigned to Marine units) assigned to Japan.  The changes are effective 2 April 2019.
