SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELING
Substance Abuse Counseling

BEHAVIORAL ADDICTIONS
Behavioral addictions such as pornography, sex, food, video games, etc. can lead to severe relationship discord, significant financial problems, loss of career, isolation from loved ones, clinical depression, and more. BH-SACC can work with active duty members and their dependents over 18 on a command or self-referral basis for these types of problems.

DETOXIFICATION
For individuals at risk for complicated withdrawal from alcohol or drugs, admission can be coordinated with the USNH Okinawa for Detoxification. 

SCREENING AND ASSESSMENT
An initial screening determines if there is a substance related diagnosis. Appropriate recommendations are made.

PRIME FOR LIFE (PFL) 4.5
Designed for Marines who may have an increased risk for problems associated with alcohol use and currently may or may not be engaging in high-risk alcohol abuse and misuse. Can be requested by Commands.

PRIME FOR LIFE (PFL) 16
Prime For Life is offered for individuals who have experienced an isolated alcohol related incident or are in need of alcohol education. The class educates individuals about the effects of alcohol on the body and brain and teaches low risk drinking.

OUTREACH & EDUCATION FOR MILITARY COMMANDS
The Drug Demand Reduction Coordinator and Substance Abuse Prevention Specialists offer outreach and education programs tailored to meet the needs of individual commands. 

OUTPATIENT TREATMENT (OP)
OP is typically offered to individuals who have been diagnosed with an Unspecified or Substance Use Disorder, Mild. Treatment usually lasts six weeks and consists of one to nine hours of therapy and psycho-education each week.

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT (IOP)
IOP is typically offered to individuals who have been diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder, Mild to Moderate. Treatment usually lasts six weeks and consists of at least nine hours of therapy and psycho-education each week.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE REHABILITATION DEPARTMENT (SARD)
Individuals whose needs are outside of BH-SACC's scope are referred to SARD for a higher level of care such as residential treatment and extended intensive outpatient treatment.    

CONTINUING CARE
Individual and Group counseling for those engaged in a recovery plan.

The Behavioral Health-Substance Abuse Counseling Center (BH-SACC) provides care for active duty military members and their dependents (over 18) with substance abuse and/or behavioral addictions. BH-SACC offers assistance at all stages, providing screenings, assessments, PRIME FOR LIFE 4.5 and 16, outreach & education for military commands, Out-Patient Treatment (OP), Intensive Out-Patient Treatment (IOP), coordination of residential treatment, and Continuing Care. BH-SACC also offers counseling services for pathological and other behavioral addictions.
