MCCS Okinawa Bike Race Series

MCCS Okinawa Bike Race Series

The MCCS Okinawa Bike Race Series will consist of six individual bike races throughout the year, two 37 km races at Camp Kinser, two 44 km races at MCAS Futenma, and two 33km races at Camp Hansen.  There is no minimum required number of races for participants to complete. 

Participants will earn points for each race they complete. 

Points will be used to determine the series grand prize winners after all races have been completed.

Date: Races will be held on the following Sundays:

13 March 22 – Kinser Bike Race (37K)

10 Apr 22 – Hansen Bike Race  (33K)

5 Jun 22 – Futenma Bike Race  (44K)

14 Aug 22 – Hansen Bike Race  (33K)

11 Sep 22 – Futenma Bike Race (44K)

16 Oct 22 – Kinser Bike Race (37K)

 

Participation Points

Participation points will be earned for each race completed. 

Participation points will be used to determine winners of the series in each gender and age category after all races are finished. 

Participation points are earned for the following achievements for each race in the series.

 

Complete race and earn a time  30 points

Complete all six races in the series  50 points

1st place in gender and age category  50 Points

2nd place in gender and age category   40 Points

3rd place in gender and age category   30 Points

4th place in gender and age category   20 Points

5th place in gender and age category   10 Points

1st place overall male or female   25 Points

Awards and Giveaways

Individual Bike Races:

Participants in each individual bike race will receive a race t-shirt and completion medal. Completion medals are interlocking with other race medals.  The combined medal will continue to grow with the completion of more races. 

Awards will be earned by the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finisher in each gender and age category. 

Additional awards will also be earned by the 1st place overall male and female finishers. $10.00 food voucher.

Bike Race Series:

Participants with the most cumulative participation points in their gender and age category will earn a special award, $100 MCCS Gift Card, and potential Sponsorship items*.  •

The male and female participants with the most overall participation points will also receive a GPS cycling computer, cycling jersey and potential Sponsorship items*.

 

 

Additional Giveaways: •

Participants who complete any four (4) of the individual races will receive a phone mount holder. 
  - Available at the completion of the 4th, 5th, and 6th individual bike races.

Participants who complete all six (6) of the individual races will receive a portable Bluetooth speaker.

The Adult Sports program provides a wide variety of recreational and competitive sports opportunities throughout the year to meet the athletic needs of our military service members, civilians, and their families.

 

Races

A variety of races—to include running, cycling, and triathlon—are available to all personnel with or without Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).  Those without SOFA may be eligible for a temporary base pass in order to participate in our racing events.

 

Open Sports Tournaments

Open sports tournaments are available to all personnel with or without Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).  Those without SOFA may be eligible for a temporary base pass in order to participate in our open sports tournaments.

 

Combined Commanding General’s Cup Intramural Sports Program

The Combined Commanding General’s Cup Intramural Sports Program is separated into three categories: Southern Camp Commander’s Cup, Northern Camp Commander’s Cup, and Commanding General’s Cup.  The Southern Camp Commander’s Cup tournaments are open to eligible units from Camp Kinser, MCAS Futenma, and Camp Foster.  The Northern Camp Commander’s Cup tournaments are open to eligible units from Camp Courtney, Camp Hansen, and Camp Schwab.  The Commanding General’s Cup tournaments are open to qualifying units from the Southern and Northern Camp Commander’s Cup tournaments.  For more information on the Combined Commanding General’s Cup Intramural Sports Program, please refer to MCIPAC-MCBBO 1710.1A.

 

All-Marine Sports

All-Marine Sports enable exceptional Marine athletes to compete at higher level competitions to include Armed Forces Championships, National Championships, Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) Championships, and the Olympics. The All-Marine program has produced multiple athletes that are nationally ranked and have gone on to perform in the Olympics.  For more information, please visit the All-Marine Sports website.
