Did you know that SFYS accepts applications for Youth Coaching all year round?
If you are interested in volunteering, please follow the below steps to apply:1. Fully complete a Coaching Application: This can be found in the "Coaches Corner" of the Youth Sports webpage or picked up from our office located on Camp Foster (Bldg. #5966). All background checks must be routed through the appropriate offices (PMO, CSAC, Family Advocacy, etc.)
- Please ensure that you have provided all of your contact information, practice day and time preferences, etc.
- Please note that the more flexible you are on age divisions, practice days/times and locations, the better the chances of being selected as a coach. You may select multiple age divisions on the form however, we ask that you number them by preference.
2. Submit your Application: Once your application has been fully completed (with all background checks taken to each facility for a signature), email us a copy at firstname.lastname@example.org or drop it off to our office on Camp Foster.
Also, all applicants will be required to visit the MCCS Human Resources Office located on Camp Foster (Bldg. #5966) to have their fingerprints scanned. This is a new requirement that began at the start of the 2016 Soccer season. If you have already volunteered for one of our 2016/2017 sports and have had your fingerprints scanned at MCCS HR already, you will not have to do this again. For more information, please contact us at 645-3533/3534. Please note that this is a mandatory requirement and there are no exceptions.
For the DD Form 2981, this only requires your information and signature. You do not have to take this form anywhere to get signed/routed.
For your reference, please see the season dates below:
Player Registrations: 01 - 30 NovemberBASEBALL/SOFTBALLPlayer Registrations: 01 May - 30 June
BASKETBALL/CHEERPlayer Registrations: 01 - 15 September
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 645-3533/3534 or at email@example.com. We will continue to recruit coaches until all vacancies are filled however, we highly recommend submitting your application as early as possible.
If you are considering volunteering for any of the Youth Sports seasons in the future, we highly recommend stopping by the MCCS NAF HR Office, located on Camp Foster building #5966 as soon as possible to complete the FBI Fingerprint requirement.
This is a new DOD Policy that has recently been rolled out for all volunteers and cannot be waived. This is a one-time fingerprint scan and if you choose to return for additional sports seasons, you will not be required to have them scanned again.
Unfortunately, volunteers will be unable to coach until they have their fingerprints scanned and the results have returned to MCCS. Up until this point, results have taken anywhere from one week to four months to return. This means if fingerprints are not scanned early enough, there will be a chance that the volunteer may be unable to coach for the requested season. This can also mean that there might be a shortage of coaches.
We ask that even if you are just thinking of volunteering for the next few seasons (Baseball/Softball, Basketball/Cheer or Soccer) to please stop by and have your fingerprints scanned. This should only take about five minutes to complete. MCCS NAF HRO is open Monday through Friday from 0730-1630 (excluding national holidays). Please keep in mind that over the lunch hour, assistance might be limited or the wait may be slightly longer.
Thank you very much for your support!
